Drug Tunnel In So Cal

Authorities on Wednesday located the U.S. exit to the tunnel, which began inside a warehouse near the airport with a cement shaft about 10 feet wide and 7 feet long. The shaft dropped about 75 feet to the tunnel, which was armslength wide and high enough for an adult to stand inside.

The tunnel floor was cement, and lights ran down the side of one of the hard soil walls.

Mexican authorities allowed reporters and photographers in the tunnel late Wednesday night. Near the entrance, authorities were seen weighing what appeared to be marijuana. Several hundred packages wrapped with brown packing tape were stacked about 5 feet high.

The passageway was longer than most of the 21 cross-border tunnels discovered since authorities began keeping track after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

"It's massive"

Mexican investigators found the entrance to the tunnel Tuesday in the warehouse about 100 yards south of the border. The tunnel was equipped with a pulley system.

HUGE DRUG BUST

Also Wednesday, U.S. and Mexican authorities found an unfinished tunnel when a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle struck a sinkhole early Wednesday near the San Ysidro border crossing, which links Tijuana and San Diego. It was about two feet underground and extended about 30 feet into the United States, near a storm drain.

"It was very, very small and extremely primitive"

The unfinished tunnel began just south of the border in Tijuana in a vacant lot, said Jose Marquez Padilla, a Mexican Customs director. It was about three feet wide.

Last week, Border Patrol agents discovered a 35-foot-long tunnel beneath the U.S.-Mexico border in after it caved in and the asphalt roadway above it collapsed. U.S. authorities said the tunnel ended in a patch of vacant land near the San Ysidro port of entry in San Diego. Three other tunnels have been discovered this month in the Tijuana-San Diego area.

Troubles in the Middle East...... Whats new?

In Baghdad, bomb blasts, shootings and rocket-propelled grenade attacks killed at least 13 people throughout Iraq, including a policeman's four children, officials said Sunday. Sunni Arab leaders opposed anyone linked with sectarian violence being given ministries in the next government.

Insurgents fired rpg's at the home of an Iraqi police officer in Balad Ruz, 45 miles northeast of Baghdad, said a spokesman for the Iraqi police Joint Coordination Center. The officer's children, ages 6 to 11, and their uncle were killed, the spokesman said on condition of anonymity due to fears of reprisal attacks. The officer was unharmed, but his wife was wounded.

Also Sunday, the bodies of a prominent Sunni Arab tribal leader and his son were found in a field near Hawija, 150 miles north of Baghdad, said police Capt. Farhad Talabani. Sayid Ibrahim Ali, 75, and his 28-year-old son, Ayad, were shot as they left a funeral Saturday, Talabani said.

Four policemen were killed and nine were wounded in a pre-dawn roadside bomb blast that targeted their patrol in Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, the police center said.

Police said a man was gunned down while at a west Baghdad petrol station, while police found the bodies of two blindfolded men who'd been shot in the head and chest in the central city of Mashru.

Stock Tip for the Week

My tip for the week is to invest in Dell. There stocks are down right now, i believe in large part to the apple/ipod craze that hit this christmas season. In years past their reports have shown a great jump in sales during the summer months. I beleive that there is good reason for this. Dell is one of, if not the prominent provider of laptops to the millions of kids attending college. Those summer months that are fast approaching are the months in which families prepare to send there kids off into the college enviroment, and If you have been onto a college campus in the last ten years you know that a laptop is n longer a luxury but instead a neccessity. All that said, i believe that you will see a great jump in the dell stocks in the next couple of months and on through the summer.

Antonio Davis

Antonio Davis entered the stands during his basketball game because he was trying to protect his wife. Can you believe that the league is going to fine and suspend him for calmly walking into the stands and stopping the drunk guy who was heckling, taunting, and harrasing his wife. I believe that any man would do the same thing. I would do it if someone was harrasing my girlfriend at one of our basketball games.

Notes on Economy Movie

The movie that we watched in class asked why is america's economy so well off, and it also compared and contrasted the views and ideas of different nations and their economy's. It had a large segment that explained the power of the government in Hong Kong and how it lack of a safety has actually propelled its economy and overall economic wealth of the average family. People in the movie expressed that the simplicity of starting a business in Hong Kong enables people to start their own businesses and therefore makes anyone capable of running a company. Also the fact that there is no safety net such as welfare or any other system to help those with little or no money, makes everyone try harder and contribute because they know that no one will help them if they fail. They are not ok with mediocrity and do not get complacent, they always strive for more money.

Reffing

Reffing is harder than it looks. I reffed the middle school boys basketball game today. I only missed a couple of calls. A traveling, and two fouls. I found that the most difficult thing is that the players block you from seeing everything. I feel i might have done better if i was in the stands, cause it seems alot easier from there. I enjoy it though, it is fun and i cant wait until steven refs his first game, that should be good. I luv you steve.
